Remember in 2003 when a daughter and mother switched bodies due to a magical fortune cookie? Then spent their Friday having to live like the other person – which was uncomfortable for everyone? Well the modern day children of today get to see a recreation of Freaky Friday, originally starring Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. The new movie is set to premiere on Friday, August 10th at 8pm on Disney Channel. The Disney Channel original movie will star Cozi Zuehlsdorff and Heidi Blickenstaff as the mother and daughter duo who will switch bodies. Except this time it’s thanks to a magical hourglass.
The creative team behind the movie includes Steve Carr directed the script written by Bridget Carpenter. The president and producer of Disney Theatrical Productions, Carr and Susan Carsonis produced it. With this film being musically oriented, Tom Kitt and Bryan Yorkey were Brough on board to do music and lyrics. They are a pair who has won Tony and Pulitzer Prize Awards.
With the creative backing of the film, it is interesting to see the similarities and differences this one has compared to the other productions. Freaky Friday is a fun, contemporary story that the new generation will get to enjoy in their own unique way, just like the generations before.
