“Aquaman” Broke the $1 Billion Mark1 week ago by Amber Le in Movie News
After 4 weeks of sitting at the top spot, Aquaman has been bumped down to number two after The Upside brought in over $19.5 million at the domestic box office this weekend. The film is directed by Neil Burger and has a strong roster of stars including Kevin Hart, Bryan Cranston and Nicole Kidman. The movie is a remake of Les Intouchables, a 2011 French film.
Even though Aquaman got dethroned, the motion picture is still putting up numbers. It surpassed the $1 billion mark worldwide, generating over $17 million in the US with a domestic total of over $287.8 milion. The film racked up $27.9 million with an international total of $732.4 million, dominating the global box office of $1.02 billion. Aquaman was directed by James Wan and stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Nicole Kidman and more.
When the film first came out, it sparked a lot of different opinions. Within the beginning week, trolls and critics clarified that they were not happy with the film and they left the theater unsatisfied while comic book fans raved at the end. Either way, DC just banked up!
