Arnold Schwarzenegger Passed on a Role in ‘The Predator’ Reboot2 weeks ago by Miss2Bees in Movie News
There’s a demand for nostalgia and there isn’t a franchise that is off limits. This includes for the horror genre, which is expecting a reboot of Halloween and Predator this Fall. The Predator is directed by Shane Black who apparently had a role for Arnold Schwarzenegger that he passed on.
The studio wanted a fresher movie that featured an evolving cast. They didn’t want to hinge the movie on the re-emergence of Schwarzenegger. It would probably be more of a matter of his showing up briefly and just participating at the very end, at the climax of the movie. Understandably — and believe me, I completely get it — he said, ‘Look, that’s kind of a small part, and I don’t really think I want to do that. I’m off to do Terminator with Jim Cameron, basically. Or for Jim Cameron. So I totally got it, you know? If I was Schwarzenegger, I’d want to be one of the stars of a film, or nothing.
All things considered, at any rate there’s no hard sentiments. While Black would have enjoyed Arnold Schwarzenegger to be present in the flick’s finale, the OG actor was understandably uninterested in the role.
Rebooting darling establishments is a dubious diversion, particularly with regards to including its unique stars. For this situation there’s generally two choices: bring them back and make them a star of the motion picture, or give the OG star a coach part for the new arrangement of legends. Harrison Ford did both with The Force Awakens and Blade Runner 2049 respectively. Schwarzenegger will return to the Terminator establishment soon, but Predator fans should keep their fingers crossed for Schwarzenegger’s character Dutch to return at some point later on.
While Arnold Schwarzenegger didn’t return for The Predator, the up and coming spin-off has some association with the 1987 classic. Jake Busey (Starship Troopers) is playing Sean Keyes, the child of Jake Busey’s OG character Peter Keyes. It’s particularly great since they’re father and son, in actuality, adding an exceptional chemistry on set.
It’ll be interesting to see how The Predator performs in the box office considering Olivia Munn found out a day player on the project was a registered sex offender. Poor planning, considering The Predator hits theaters this weekend.
