“Avengers: Infinity War” Will Not Explore Thanos’ Past3 weeks ago by Amber Le in Heroes, Movie News
Thanos’ history will remain just that in the new Avengers: Infinity War. Directors Joe and Anthony Russo confirmed that although the Mad Titan has an interesting backstory, it doesn’t pertain to the plot at hand so it will not be a main focus.
There will be hints and flashbacks regarding Thanos’ past. The movie’s action scenes is set up in his homeland, Titan, which can no longer hold life due to a series of events, making it inhabitable. Once he finds out the power of the Infinity Stones, he is on a mission to “change reality as he sees fit.” The Russos reiterated with Total Film Magazine that none of the above details will be shown in the movie, but it is implied if you pay enough attention. Reason being, Joe Russo said,
“We were considering showing Thanos’ backstory, but ultimately felt it wasn’t necessary for the movie.”
Avengers: Infinity War drops in theaters everywhere April 27 and is anticipated to bring in $200 million opening weekend.
