Cameron Diaz’s Co-Star Claims She Quietly Retired From Acting1 year ago by Edward Antonelli in Movie News
Cameron Diaz is the 45-year-old former model turned actress who made her acting debut alongside Jim Carrey in The Mask. Since then, Hollywood and movie lovers have garner a lot of attention from the San Diego born star. Over the past 20 years, Diaz films have grossed over $7 billion dollars worldwide from features such as There’s Something About Mary, Charlie’s Angels, Gangs of New York, and Bad Teacher. However, all that success may be enough for the famed actress and she may be stepping away from the camera.
Diaz married ‘Good Charlotte’ guitarist Benji Madden in 2015 and has not acted in a film since 2014–appearing in the remake of Annie. Co-star Selma Blair from The Sweetest Thing recently had lunch with Diaz and was quoted for saying, “We were reminiscing about [The Sweetest Thing]. I would have liked to do a sequel but Cameron’s retired from acting. She’s like ‘I’m done’. She has a pretty great life, I don’t know what it would take to bring her back. She’s happy.”
There is one project in fact that may have her return to the big screen. Diaz is also the voice of Pheona in Shrek. The fifth installment of the film, Shrek 5, has been confirmed to be in the work for 2019 and it would be strange to recast that role. Mike Myers, the voice of Shrek, has also been semi-retired. Only appearing in two films outside of voicing the orge since 2009.
