‘Captain Marvel’ Brie Larson Wants Studio To Be More Diverse4 weeks ago by Amber Le in Movie News
Avengers: Endgame and Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson has been blowing up ever since starring in Marvel’s franchise. She is the only female lead to have her own movie within MCU. The entertainment company is inviting diversity into the superhero scene and Larson completely agrees. As a matter of fact, she’s pushing them to move faster when it comes to bringing on diversity.
She voiced her opinion during Variety and iHeartMedia’s podcast, The Big Ticket.
“I’m happy to be on the forefront of the normalization of this type of content and to prove once again that representation matters. Diverse storytelling matters, the female experience matters, and these are markers. So it’s something I’ve always known and I think a lot of people always knew, but this is normalizing.”
Although Marvel’s Endgame features plenty of different types of characters, the studio has often been criticized for their lack of diversity to which Larson responds, emphasizing how she wants them to speed things up regarding the issue.
“I don’t understand how you could think that a certain type of person isn’t allowed to be a superhero. So to me it’s like, we gotta move faster. But I’m always wanting to move faster with this stuff.”
