Disney Rehires James Gunn For “Guardians of the Galaxy 3”2 months ago by Amber Le in Movie News
Disney has rehired James Gunn after firing him back in summer 2018. Old tweets from the director surfaced online during the month of July leading up to his controversial termination. Although Gunn managed to bounce back and land another directing gig with DC’s Suicide Squad, stars of the Guardians of the Galaxy cast were not having it. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper and Dave Bautista all signed an open letter asking for the filmmaker’s position to be restored.
Gunn took out the time to express his gratitude to his fans and followers. .
“I am tremendously grateful to every person out there who has supported me over the past few months. I am always learning and will continue to work at being the best human being I can be. I deeply appreciate Disney’s decision and I am excited to continue making films that investigate the ties of love that bind us all. I have been, and continue to be incredibly humbled by your love and support. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Love to you all.”
Prior to that, Gunn was extremely quiet on social media and before his online hiatus, he issued an apology following the offensive tweets.
“My words of nearly a decade ago were, at the time, totally failed and unfortunate efforts to be provocative. I have regretted them for many years since – not just because they were stupid, not at all funny, wildly insensitive, and certainly not provocative like I had hoped, but also because they don’t reflect the person I am today or have been for some time.”
