‘Fast and Furious 9’ Casts First New Writer Since ‘Tokyo Drift’10 months ago by Edward Antonelli in Movie News
The highly anticipated Fast and Furious 9 has recently casted Daniel Casey to pen the upcoming action film. Casey is one of the co-writers to the upcoming sci-fi trailer Fin which has been getting a lot of attention since the release of its trailer. His most recent screenplay, The Heavy, has been a major topic of discussion among Hollywood producers for its unique take on the sci-fi genre. It was recently picked up by Paramount Pictures and J.J. Abrams— set to begin filming sometime later this year.
Casey has some big shoes to fill. His predecessor, Chris Morgan has been writing for the action franchise since the third installment, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. However, because of scheduling conflicts with other projects including the upcoming spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, Rampage starring Dwayne Johnson and The Meg starring Jason Statham, he was not able to return to his role.
Fast and Furious 9 is expected to race into theaters April 10, 2020. Stay tuned to The Feature Presentation for any updates.
