‘Hotel Transylvania’ just released their latest installment of their franchise last week, ‘Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation’. The film has already grossed $100 million worldwide. To build up the hype even more, Sony Pictures Virtual Reality and immersive content firm Specular Theory have introduced a VR “rhythm game” called ‘Hotel Transylvania Popstic’.
The game is available at about 500 VR arcades in North America, Europe, and China. Players choose to play as either Drac, Mavis, or Johnny. They select a song and then dance their way past targets and obstacles.
Senior VP of virtual reality at Sony Pictures, Jake Zim commented,
“From the outset ‘Hotel Transylvania Popstic’ was designed to work for the growing VR arcade audience. It’s the perfect pairing of a movie brand that families love and a music rhythm game that is as fun to watch as it is to play”.
Location-based VR is growing exponentially and is expected to be a billion dollar business by the end of 2018.
