Is ‘Jane The Virgin’ Calling a Quit After Season 5?1 year ago by Edward Antonelli in TV News
It appears actress and co-exsecutive producer Gina Rodriquez of Jane The Virgin on the CW network may have spilled some beans this past Sunday.
At the Women To Watch day panel from Create & Cultivate and Fossil in Austin, Texas, Rodriquez recalls the time she took the reigns as director in a season four episode.
She notes that it was “the most incredible experience” and continues by bragging about it being the top-rated episode of season four. She then concludes her statement by confirming her plans to “…do more [directing] next year–in our final season.”
While CW has made no official statements on the show and its future, Rodriquez statement comes as a bomb to the show which won a Golden Globe in 2015.
The English telenovela series has been suffering in rating lately. It is the third lowest rated show on CW Network and compared to last season, rating are down nearly 30%– averaging 652,000 viewers a week.
However, what Rodriquez can offer is huge for the CW network. She is in the midst of developing a female-driven drama entitled Femme and a comedic-drama about undocumented immigrants called Illegal. CW President Mark Podowitz called the Latina actress “… a special, special person. Really, she is the real frickin’ deal. That’s how much I feel and respect her.”
