It has been almost two decades since the prank driven show aired on MTV, and it has been eight years since the last installment of the films franchise, fans have been wondering when Jackass will return. Johnny Knoxville, speaking with Entertainment Weekly, stated: ‘Its possible for sure, it’s not like we’re saying no. If we did do a new one, we’d have to bring in some new younger guys- just to bring some fresh blood into it. But it’s possible’.
The 47 year old actor and producer said that the group came up with some ideas whiling shooting for Jackass 3D. Knoxville says whenever he gets an idea, he jots it down but it still wouldn’t be enough to cover all the ideas in Jackass 4.
The actor and his Jackass co-star, Chris Pontius, team up with Paramount Pictures for their new movie, Action Point, which debuted in theaters with a low gross of $2.3 million in the box office. The film follows D.C., the crackpot owner of a low rent, out of control amusement park, where the rides have minimum safety and maximum fun. Just as D.C.’s alienate daughter comes by, a bigger amusement park opens and endangers the future Action Point. To save the park and his relationship, D.C. and his misfit friends all work together to build another cool, wild ride for the park.
Similar to the television series, Action Point, that features numerous stunts performed by the actors themselves, Knoxville says that injuries he put himself through with Jackass and Action Point, is an obstacle for bringing the gang back together. With his mother’s passing, and some unnamed friends, Knoxville’s eyes have opened to some of the risks and is done with doing his own stunts. The studio, Paramount, has asked him to not do as many stunts in the film.
Johnny Knoxville, states: ‘I’m not saying never…Never say never’ to not fully ruling out Jackass 4.
Knoxville’s next film will be Above Suspicion, alongside with Emilia Clark, and Jack Huston, which is set to hit theaters sometime later this year.
