Jordan Peele Confirms Spiritual Sequel to “Candyman”2 weeks ago by Amber Le in Movie News
Jordan Peele is putting on his director’s hat again and this time, he’s making a spiritual sequel to the infamous horror flick Candyman. His debut in the big chair with Get Out earned him an Oscar for “Best Original Screenplay” and was also nominated for “Best Picture.”
Peele will be teaming up with Win Rosenfield for the screenplay and Nia DaCosta as director. He admits a lot of his inspiration came from the classic movie.
“The original was a landmark film for black representation in the horror genre. Alongside Night of the Living Dead, Candyman was a major inspiration for me as a filmmaker – and to have a bold new talent like Nia at the helm of this project is truly exciting. We are honored to bring the next chapter in the Candyman canon to life and eager to provide new audiences with an entry point to Clive Barker’s legend.”
The film is set to release June 12, 2020.
