Jordyn Woods Speaks Her Truth on “Red Table Talk” with Jada Pinkett Smith3 months ago by Amber Le in TV News
Jada Pinkett Smith sparked a lot of controversy when she invited Jordyn Woods to sit down for some Red Table Talk. Earlier this morning, the episode streamed for the world to see and no one could have done it better than Smith who’s known Woods since she was a baby. Instead of aggressively passing judgment, the talk show host decided to explain what she did wrong from an understanding stance.
Smith started out with the observation that she will be covering a very sensitive topic and how she did not want any animosity during the show.
“I have known Jordyn Woods for her entire life. And I just want everybody to know that anybody that’s coming to the table today needs to understand that A, we’re dealing with really sensitive subjects and B, we need to deal with it with compassion.”
She then continues on to explain the reason she wanted Woods to sit down at her table.
“There’s a family that feels betrayed by you. I want to give you the opportunity to tell your truth and I want you to tell it through the lens of what your part has been, because that’s the only part you can change.”
The young model spoke about how she started off her evening on February 17.
“I was minding my business, dancing, drinking. Tristan was there, he was doing his own thing. That was it.”
She emphasizes that her and her crew decided to go to a house party and that she wasn’t aware it was Thompson’s but admitted she felt safer because she knew him. She then realized her mistake.
“I’m like, cool, that’s okay. It feels like a safe environment. I’d rather it be his house than a random stranger… That’s my first step where I went wrong. [I wasn’t thinking about] how I would feel if someone close to me is hanging out at my ex’s house or the father of my child. I didn’t think about that. That’s the first part of the problem. I should have gone home after the party. I shouldn’t even have been there.”
Woods explains that she was not intimate with Thompson that night and they were always in a group setting.
“Never once was I giving him a lap dance, making out with him, sitting all over him. It’s just, we’re all together, we’re in a group. Never once did we leave a public area, go to a bedroom, go to a bathroom. We’re all in plain sight…”
She proceeds to explain her reasoning behind staying at Tristan’s until 7 A.M.
“In my life, in my world, it makes sense. Two nights before, I had been on kind of a partying binge. That wasn’t the first place I stayed until 6 in the morning. There was always somebody there while I was there. Even up until the moment that I left, there were people there. I finally look outside and I’m like, ‘Look, the sun’s coming up. I need to take myself home.”
Woods continues talking about how Thompson offered her the option of staying the night to which she declined. She tearfully tells the rest of her story.
“I feel like I can’t point fingers. I can’t say you did this, because I allowed myself to be in that position. I allowed myself to be there. I never was belligerently drunk to where I can’t remember what happened. I was never blacked out. There was alcohol involved. I was drunk, I was not tipsy, I was drunk, but I was not beyond the point of recollection. I know where I was.”
