LeBron James has just been out here winning. From joining the LA Lakers roster to opening up his own IPromise school, the NBA superstar has also been investing his time into Hollywood. King James currently has quite a few projects under his belt and now he’s adding Shut Up and Dribble to the list.

He will be an executive producer for the three part documentary which will air on Showtime. The title of the series was inspired by Laura Ingraham’s comments during her broadcast on Fox 5 when she pretty much asked how the athlete had the audacity to weigh in on racism and politics. Her exact words were “shut up and dribble,” implying that he had no place to speak regarding social issues.

The documentary will be welcoming the change of all athlete’s roles. They are no longer just public figures that are there for entertainment, to dribble, throw and catch balls. They are now looked at as influential role models, which they have always been but in this day and age, you’ve got to stand for something especially with all of the corruption taking place.

The series will be produced under SpringHill Productions, which is James and his partner, Maverick Carter’s company. Gotham Chopra, director of Dear Basketball, will also be involved.

Shut Up and Dribble will debut on Showtime in October.
