Philadelphia Honors Meek Mill’s Accomplishments with “Meek Mill Weekend”2 months ago by Amber Le in Trending
Robert Rimeek Williams is leaving his legacy already as he steers towards becoming a walking legend. Earlier in the year, Houston declared their “Meek Mill Day” in February. Now, Philadelphia is giving the king his own weekend. City and state officials honored the Championships rapper today with “Meek Mill Weekend” as a way of acknowledging his accomplishments to hip hop and prison reform.
Meek took the mic with his son, Papi by his side and showed his gratitude towards his family and officials before his weekend performances.
“I think we deserve better. I’m trying to fight for young kids that I’ve spent time with and sat in prison with. I’ve been to prison a few times for probation violations but the one time my city of Philadelphia showed me support is the one time I came out of prison.”
He continued on to emphasize the purpose of his mission.
“Our foundation is focusing on probation and parole. That was the biggest obstacle that always stopped me in my life… You have kids that might make a mistake and get on probation. Smoke a joint and you might end up in the pentitentiary for three years getting raised by a felon. This honor is not a call out for people to do crimes and not go to jail. This is a call out for people to get a fair chance. And that’s what I’m here fighting for.”
