PSVita Cartridges Are Being Discontinued10 months ago by Rod McCullough in Games
Sony has reportedly ended production of physical cartridges for the Playstation Vita.
Rumors regarding Sony have stated that they have asked game developers that all product code requests be submitted by June 28, 2018, with final purchase orders entered by February 15 of next year. A representative for Sony has confirmed that Vita physical cart production will be ending by March 31stof next year.
This does not mean, however, that Sony will no longer support the PSVita. What this truly means is that Sony is looking to reduce the costs of creating physical copies of games. In removing physical copies Sony can promote digital downloads of the games, which are a lot cheaper considering there is no actual physical production that needs to be done.
While the PSVita has not been as popular as Sony had expected it to be, it is still a practical gaming device that will continue to help support the PS4 console sales.
