“What makes you different is what makes you Spider-Man.” That single line was recited numerous times throughout the new trailer for upcoming animated movie, Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. It’s a breath of fresh air because it takes the time to acknowledge the young black latino comic book character, Miles Morales, played by Shameik Moore.
Morales is a teenager who got bitten by a radioactive spider and then transitions into Spider-Man. Sony decided to go a different route this time around as they are looking to rack up box office numbers and bank account numbers. The company wants to explore every aspect of Spider-Man as much as possible.
According to Hot New Hip Hop,
“He exists in an alternate universe, but recently, Marvel comics combined their universes in an epic cross-over event that placed the traditional Peter Parker Spider-Man and Morales in the same story. Now, both Parker and Morales exists together as crime fighters for the Avengers, and their own solo stories. Into The Spider-Verse will draw inspiration from that storyline, as a new trailer reveals that the universe-colliding plot will be central to the heroes’ mission.”
