Won’t You Be My Neighbor, a movie about our favorite and beloved man, Fred Rogers, or as kids may know him as Mister Rogers. Morgan Neville will be making a documentary about Roger’s life on his PBS shows Mister Roger’s Neighborhood.
Neville takes us through his point of view of working on the show in a small, low-budget studio of WQED-TV in Pittsburgh. He wanted to revisit the neighborhood and make the stories come to life once again. It had brought him to tears, seeing old photos and remembering the neighborhood of Mister Roger ‘s alter ego puppets.
The documentary doesn’t go too deep into Roger’s personal life, but what we do see is his wife Joanne, and their two sons, John and James. They all got interviewed for this film but didn’t say much about Roger’s childhood life. Neville wanted to do a film that assesses the meaning and impact of an onscreen television persona.
Roger’s never judged a book by it’s cover, no matter who you are, he still likes you.
