Why Death Was Not A Character In “Avengers: Infinity War”3 months ago by Amber Le in Heroes, Movie News
Avengers: Infinity War was undoubtedly inspired by the Marvel comis back in the 1990s where Death was an actual being which was Thanos’ motivation behind wiping out half of the universe but Death is not a character in the movie which leads to the question as to why and what is the reasoning behind the Mad Titan’s plot?
When asked about the character, directors Joe and Anthony Russo broke it down like this, for a finale series, they didn’t believe it was best to introduce fans to a new character that we had no connection with and with a roster of over 20 superheroes, there would be no benefit but rather a disadvantage to take time out to introduce the character as someone important. Joe Russo explained,
“It’s our job to make these characters work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Death is not a preexisting character. We have two-and-a-half hours with 23 heroes; there’s no room to come in and introduce some character that the audience has no emotional connection to in a finale, in a movie that spans 10 years. But then we have all this other storytelling to deal with.”
