I know it’s a little sappy to cry during movies but you have to admit, the ending to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 broke your heart when Yondu sacrificed himself for the survival of the team. Empires from all over the galaxy sent him off in the most respectful way with fireworks, tears and praises.
As we near the release of Avengers: Infinity War, Michael Rooker can’t help but play around with the idea of Yondu taking on Thanos. The actor told Awesome Con in Washington DC,
“I’d shoot him with my arrow or something. When he’s not looking! Preferably by surprise ’cause I wouldn’t want to go head-to-head with him. He has the thing with the things on it!”
That seems like a very Yondu-like thing to do, defeating someone on the sneak tip and catching the enemy by surprise. He goes on to explain into further detail how he would not be a match for the Mad Titan otherwise,
“Yeah, Yondu’s arrow is pretty formidable, but you know, with those stones that’s power. That’s raw, awesome power he’s got and he’s gonna wield it very soon. i hope you all go to the movies and see.”
That sparked a little bit of hope in my heart that Yondu might be brought back to life in the new movie. Unfortunately, Sean Gunn burst that bubble by confirming our favorite whistling hero is permanently dead.
Avengers: Infinity War releases in theaters everywhere April 27th.
