Winston Duke Wasn’t Aware He Auditioned For “Black Panther” At First3 months ago by Amber Le in Movie News
Everyone involved in Black Panther has seen their career take off right after the monumental movie shattered records. Winston Duke is of course, one of them amongst Michael B. Jordan, Chadwick Boseman and many more. Duke admitted in a recent interview with GQ that he wasn’t even aware of what he was trying out for.
“I was told by my agent and representative that I was going in for an ‘untitled Marvel project.’ I had no idea what I was auditioning for. I didn’t know what I was auditioning for until… maybe the third round of auditions. It was a director’s session, with Ryan Coogler and Nate Moore in the room. That’s when I realized it was Black Panther.”
He also found out that he was trying out for a part in another epic movie, Star Wars.
“I auditioned for [a movie with fake sides] that literally looked nothing like it would be for a space-opera adventure. Nothing that even seemed very futuristic. It felt more like a buddy-cop comedy. Kind of like 48 Hours. I found out months later it was a Star Wars audition.”
