Since March of last year, virtually the entire world has been in disarray thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now a new National Geographic documentary is set to explore the United States’ response to COVID-19 during the early stages of the pandemic with the latest trailer for The First Wave being unveiled earlier this week.
When the COVID-19 pandemic first took a stranglehold upon American society, virtually every level of society quickly became overwhelmed in their attempts to figure out how to deal with the infectious virus. This meant hospitals and medical professionals were put under immense stress as they were placed upon the frontlines to combat the virus despite not having any considerable knowledge on how to do so. The learning curve was rough to say the least, but now that we have a firmer handle on COVID-19 we can now look back at how we handled the pandemic in those first few months as this new NatGeo documentary intends to do. In the latest trailer for The First Wave, viewers are introduced to a diverse array of perspectives that all paint the same bleak picture of how the COVID-19 pandemic negatively impacted their lives in a way unlike any project has been able to quite yet. The sobering trailer can be seen below with The First Wave expected to debut in theaters in a few short weeks on November 19th.
With the worst of it seemingly in the rearview mirror, we as a collective society can now reflect upon how we handled the COVID-19 pandemic from its onset. While some fared better than others, ultimately we have achieved a remarkable common goal in slowing down the spread of the virus tremendously when the world looked as if it was on the brink of destruction. We know that isn’t the case now, and we owe a debt of gratitude to the fearless medical professionals who helped get us through it. The First Wave will be the first in a long line of attempts to do so, and is set to premiere in theaters in a few short weeks.
