A fan-made trailer for Batgirl features Wednesday star Jenna Ortega as the heroine.
The short clip, created by the YouTube page KH Studio, consists of former movie scenes that Ortega has starred in, an A.I.-generated version of the actress wearing a Batgirl costume, driving a personalized Batmobile, and much more. Like KH Studio’s last spoof trailer, Margot Robbie is technologically altered, but this time as a therapist. In the fake trailer for James Bond 26, the Barbie star was showcased as a titular character.
DC scrapped the Batgirl movie in August of 2022 during their post-production phase. The company, who partnered with Warner Bros. for the film, decided to axe the project due to “the company’s cost-cutting measures and a refocus on theatrical releases.”
“We didn’t get the chance to show Batgirl to the world and let the audience judge for themselves,” the movie’s director, Adil El Arbi, told Insider. The audience really is our ultimate boss and should decide if something is good or bad or if something should be seen or not.”
Batgirl is based on the DC superhero Barbara Gordon, also known as Batgirl. Batgirl was said to be the predecessor to the 2023 movie The Flash and elaborates on the fate of Keaton’s character toward the end of the movie. It was set to debut on HBO Max.
The film was supposed to star Leslie Grace (Batgirl), Brendan Fraser (Firefly), J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), and Michael Keaton as Batman. Keaton formerly played Batman in 1992’s Batman Returns. Batgirl was said to be the predecessor to the 2023 movie The Flash and elaborates on the fate of Keaton’s character toward the end of the movie. Batgirl was directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and based on a script created by Christina Hodson.
