After captivating moviegoers in a small role in No Time to Die, Ana de Armas is stepping fully into the action acene in Ballerina, a spin-off from the John Wick universe. Hitting theaters on June 6, Lionsgate just released a brand-new trailer giving fans a closer look at what to expect.
In the movie, de Armas plays Eve, a skilled assassin trained by the Ruska Roma. She’s on a mission to get revenge against the people who killed her family. But going down this violent path puts her up against some deadly challenges, including one opponent who knows her world from the inside out.
Keanu Reeves returns as John Wick, though it’s still unclear how big his role is. What we can say is: he’s an important part of Eve’s story. Other returning characters include Anjelica Huston as The Director, Ian McShane as Winston, and the late Lance Reddick as Charon. There’s also some new faces in the franchise: Norman Reedus, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Gabriel Byrne.
Ballerina is directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten. The story is set during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and follows Eve as she begins her deadly training.
