André 3000 was seen supporting upcoming musicians on Monday at an open mic in Portland, Oregon. The news spread through a clip that went viral. The musical genius donned an all-black ensemble while applauding the performers.
“Coolest thing ever tonight! I went to an open mic night at a park and saw someone with a unique looking double flute,” wrote the filmer of the viral snippet.
“I commented how cool it looked and chatted with this super nice, chill dude for a minute before going to sit in the grass.”
Moments later, the person behind the recording was informed that they were speaking to THE André 3000.
“It wasn’t until after I’d sat someone whispered to me, ‘You know who that is, right?’ It was André 3000!! He stayed and hung out for the entire show and cheered for every person who performed. What a sweet dude!”
Outkast‘s megastar has been spotted playing the flute on many occasions. In 2019, NPR radio producer Antonia Cereijdo saw André 3000 in an airport playing a double flute. After pondering about it, she eventually asked him if he was who she portrayed him to be.
“I saw a man walking around my terminal playing the flute for 40 minutes and was losing my mind because I thought it was André 3000,” she tweeted. “And then it WAS André 3000!!!”
A few days later, André 3000 was playing the flute in Philly. He also took pictures with fans. One person who got a chance to chop it up with the icon said
“When I walked past him the first time, I didn’t approach him. I just saw a guy, but he kind of fit the mold of André 3000. Then, as I was walking, it started to click that it was probably him.”
Aside from the recent news, you can catch Andre 3000 putting on his actor’s hat for the upcoming film, Showing Up. He’s set to work alongside four-time Oscar nominee Michelle Williams. Showing Up is said to be “a vibrant and sharply funny portrait of an artist on the verge of a career-changing exhibition.”
