Apple TV+ is doubling down on prestige storytelling with its first look at Imperfect Women, a gripping new psychological thriller starring and executive produced by Elisabeth Moss and Kerry Washington. Created for television by Annie Weisman (Physical, Based on a True Story) and based on Araminta Hall’s acclaimed novel, the eight-episode limited series is set to make its global debut on Wednesday, March 18th, with the first two episodes dropping immediately, followed by weekly releases through April 29th.
At its core, Imperfect Women is a haunting exploration of friendship, secrecy, and the quiet fractures that can lead to devastating consequences. The series centers on a crime that upends a decades-long bond between three women, unraveling layers of guilt, retribution, love, and betrayal along the way. As the investigation unfolds, so too does a sobering truth: even the most intimate relationships may be built on carefully guarded illusions. With its unconventional narrative and emotionally charged tension, the series promises a slow-burn mystery that lingers long after each episode ends.
Anchoring the story are powerhouse performances from Moss and Washington, whose combined on-screen presence sets the tone for the series’ psychological intensity. They’re joined by an impressive ensemble cast including Kate Mara, Joel Kinnaman, Corey Stoll, and Leslie Odom Jr., alongside Sheryl Lee Ralph, Ana Ortiz, Rome Flynn, Wilson Bethel, and many more—each adding depth and dimension to a story driven as much by character as by suspense.
Behind the scenes, Imperfect Women brings together an elite creative team. Weisman serves as showrunner, continuing her successful collaboration with Apple TV+, while Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Love & Death) directs and executive produces the premiere episode. Moss executive produces through Love & Squalor Pictures, Washington through Simpson Street, with Hall and writer Kay Oyegun also serving as executive producers. The series is a co-production between 20th Television and Apple Studios, further cementing Apple TV+’s reputation for high-caliber, creator-driven storytelling.
As Apple TV+ continues to build a slate defined by critical acclaim and award recognition, Imperfect Women stands out as a bold, emotionally layered addition. One that blends psychological intrigue with raw human truth. With its stellar cast, acclaimed source material, and a creative team known for pushing narrative boundaries, the series is poised to become one of the platform’s must-watch dramas of the year. With that being said, Imperfect Women premieres globally on Apple TV+ on March 18th so be sure to tune in.
