Chuck D is taking Hip-Hop back to print. The Public Enemy front man has officially launched Rap Central Station, described as “the world’s first true ‘Art Rap Chart’ magazine”. Created in collaboration with Silverback Publishing, the quarterly publication arrives in a bold 12×12 vinyl-sized format. A deliberate nod to Hip-Hop’s physical roots and album-cover era. Arriving as more than a magazine, it’s a cultural statement.
Artists At The Center
What sets Rap Central Station apart is its mission. Restoring creators to the center of Hip-Hop conversations. The publication features art, music, charts, advertising, and album and single reviews. All written by the artists themselves. The goal is clear. To reclaim the narrative and push back against the false stories and sensationalism that have often shaped mainstream coverage of the culture.
A Powerful Launch Issue
The debut edition includes features on Grandmaster Flash, Cypress Hill, Monie Love, Public Enemy, and more. In doing so, it’s bridging generations while honoring Hip-Hop’s foundations.
Chuck D calls it a “return to physical culture, real curation, and Hip-Hop presented with the respect that it deserves”. In a digital-first industry driven by algorithms and quick takes, Rap Central Station offers something tangible, intentional, and built to last. It’s not just a magazine… it’s Hip-Hop documenting itself on its own terms.
