Fans are excited about several upcoming DC movies, including Clayface, which is being written by horror extrodinare Mike Flanagan. Although the film has been delayed, there’s still good news.
CinemaBlend reports that Clayface was approved by James Gunn as part of the DCU’s first lineup, Gods and Monsters. Fans are especially intrigued by this news, in particular because producer Peter Safran described Clayface as “pure horror.”

A movie insider named Umberto Gonzalez also posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that filming is now set to start in October instead of this summer. Although it puts a dent in the rollout plans, it shows the body horror movie is still moving forward. In the film industry, some movies get announced and then never happen. Warner Bros. has done this before, most notably canceling Batgirl after it was already filmed. So fans are keeping their fingers crossed that Clayface won’t be next.
Directed by James Watkins, who has worked on Speak No Evil and Black Mirror, the movie is still expected to be released in 2026. But fans will have to wait and see if filming really begins this fall. So far, details about its plot are under wraps.
The new DCU movies will stream on Max, starting at $9.99 a month. There are three subscription levels, and you can save up to 20% with an annual plan.
