It’s almost time to click play on nostalgia. Miranda Cosgrove has officially confirmed that the long-rumored iCarly wrap-up movie is not just a fan wish anymore. In fact, it’s happening. After Paramount+’s 2023 reboot cancellation left viewers hanging on a jaw-dropping cliffhanger, the beloved Nickelodeon classic is getting one final chapter to tie up its biggest unanswered question.
“It’s being written, which is really exciting… And it looks like it’s happening. I’m really excited” Cosgrove told Entertainment Weekly.
From Viral Teen Sensation To Streaming Revival And Now, The Final Bow
Originally running from 2007 to 2012, iCarly turned Miranda Cosgrove’s Carly Shay into one of TV’s most iconic early internet personalities. Alongside Jennette McCurdy’s Sam, Nathan Kress’ Freddie, and Jerry Trainor’s unforgettable Spencer, the sitcom captured the chaotic, joyful, and often absurd spirit of teen creativity in the YouTube age.
The 2021 Paramount+ revival brought most of the original cast back with the exception of McCurdy, who has since retired from acting and gave longtime fans a more grown-up (but still delightfully weird) take on Carly’s life. Most notably, it reignited the Carly–Freddie romance in a way that felt both fresh and full-circle.

The Cliffhanger That Had Fans Screaming
Season 3 of the reboot ended with a twist no one saw coming: the sudden return of Carly and Spencer’s long-absent mother. The original series only ever hinted at her absence, revealing that Carly was raised largely by Spencer while their father served overseas in the Air Force. In a decade and a half, iCarly never showed her onscreen — until now.
“We don’t know who’s going to play the mom character yet, but she’s going to be a big part of the movie… That’s exciting. We’re just excited to start it and actually film” Cosgrove teased.
The First Official Confirmation
While Cosgrove had hinted at “something in the works” during an appearance on The Talk in late 2024, this is the first time she’s confirmed the movie is officially moving forward. The wrap-up will resolve the revival’s cliffhanger and give fans closure on one of the show’s longest-running mysteries.
As production gears up, speculation over casting — especially for the elusive Mrs. Shay — is bound to run wild. For now, fans can rest easy knowing that after nearly two decades of inside jokes, spaghetti tacos, and web show chaos, iCarly will get the heartfelt and probably hilarious ending it deserves.
