James Gunn, David Corenswet (Clark Kent/Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) went on stage at the CinemaCon in Las Vegas to show the audience never-before-seen footage from Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman film.

The clips seemingly mirrored the latest trailer, which shows Superman calling out for Krypto after landing in an icy tundra. His four-legged best friend ends up taking him to the Fortress of Solitude, where robotic caretakers hold a superpower that heals him. From there, viewers get a peep of Superman rescuing civilians, battling an entity known as a kaiju, and being affectionate with Lois Lane. Before the clip ends, Superman humorously shakes his head in disappointment at Krypto after he destroys his compound.
The conversation about humongous creatures like “monster babies” and “giant kaiju” came about after Entertainment Weekly asked the CEO of DC how Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s All-Star Superman inspired the movie.

“That comic really embodies the grand, old-school, sci-fi elements of the Silver Age,” Gunn explained. “We’ve got robots, monster babies, giant kaiju, all that fun stuff. But at its heart, it’s about real relationships. Superman and Lois have only been dating for a few months, and now they’re navigating what that means, what works, what doesn’t, and how their ideals align or clash. Lois is a pragmatist, Superman is an idealist, and that dynamic is fascinating. My wife and I are actually like that,” he added with a laugh.
Superman tells the story of the superhero’s journey to balance his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent in Smallville, Kansas. He embodies truth, justice, and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that often sees kindness as old-fashioned.
The film features a stellar cast, including David Corenswet as Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/The Engineer, Sean Gunn as Maxwell Lord, Pruitt Taylor as Jonathan Kent/Pa Kent, and Neva Howell as Martha Kent/Ma Kent.
