Universal has greenlit a new Meet the Parents sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, John Hamburg, who also wrote the script for the upcoming film, is in talks to direct. Hamburg has also worked on the first Meet The Parents movie (2000) Meet the Fockers (2004), and Little Fockers (2010).
News about Hamburg’s involvement in Meet The Parents comes after his interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2022. At the time, Hamburg was very hush-hush about the Meet The Parents sequel.
“I’ll refrain from discussing that question, but I love everyone involved, and we’re still in touch, and I think that’s all I’llsay on that,” he responded.

The untitled Meet The Parents film will see Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, and Blythe Danner reprising their respective roles. There are no details about the storyline so far.
The film’s producers include De Niro and Jane Rosenthal of Tribeca Productions, Jay Roach of Delirious Media, Stiller and John Lesher from Red Hour Films, and Hamburg from Particular Pictures. Universal’s Matt Reilly and Jacqueline Garrell are overseeing the project for the studio.

Meet the Parents focuses on a nurse, played by Stiller, who tries his hardest to impress his girlfriend’s intimidating father, played by De Niro. The 2000 film earned over $330 million globally, while the 2004 sequel, Meet the Fockers, which added Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand to the OG cast, performed even better, amassing $522 million worldwide. Roach directed the first two films, and Paul Weitz took the role for the 2010 follow-up, Little Fockers.
