While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter at the New York Premiere for M3GAN 2.0, Jason Blum said this version of M3GAN is “like the first one, but on steroids.” Executive producer Adam Hendricks added, “She’s unpredictable. Gemma still sees her as her child, but she’s scared of what M3GAN might do.”
James Wan, another producer for M3GAN 2.0, said, “Teen M3GAN” is even scarier because she looks more human and can blend more into society. She’s got attitude, she’s grown up, and like most teens, she’s kind of scary. But imagine that in a deadly robot.”

Director Gerard Johnstone joked that raising kids is close to dealing with a monster. “It’s like they’re constantly changing, and just when you think you’ve figured them out, they become something new,” he said. That fear of parenting and the chaos that comes with it is a big theme in the M3GAN sequel. This time around, the killer robot doll is smarter, sassier, and even harder to control.
Fans can also expect M3GAN to bust out in a new, unforgettable dance. “We didn’t want to repeat the first movie’s viral dance moment,” Johnstone teased. “She’s a robot, so you better believe she’s got a new move.”
M3GAN 2.0 time jumps a few years after the first film. In the new installment, Gemma, played by Allison Williams, and her niece Cady, played by Violet McGraw, are forced to bring M3GAN back to deal with a newer, more dangerous robot made by the military.
“She’s taller, stronger, has more attitude and more ego,” Williams stated during the premiere. “Raising this robot is just as hard as raising a real teen. The movie explores parenting and tech, but it’s still a wild ride.”

Costume designer Jeriana San Juan updated M3GAN’s look to reflect her “teen” phase, more stylish, more mature, but still very M3GAN. Voice actress Jenna Davis, who plays M3GAN, also adjusted the AI robot’s voice, keeping the sass and humor fans loved, while making her sound a bit older.
M3GAN isn’t the only one in the spotlight this time. A new robot named Amelia enters the picture. In the movie, she’s designed by the military and has a more human-like appearance.
“She looks completely real until she starts talking. Then you realize something’s off,” executive producer Judson Scott said. “She’s a darker reflection of M3GAN. No moral code, just dangerous instincts.”

Ivanna Sakhno, who plays Amelia, said fans can expect tons of action. “I’ve been doing fight scenes in everything from dresses to full bodysuits. It’s crazy, campy, but also really intense.”
With Amelia as the villain, M3GAN steps into a different role.
“Now she’s the one we need to save us,” Scott said. “This movie shifts genres a bit. It’s not just a horror film anymore. It’s about the idea of M3GAN as a character, not just the creepy story around her.”

Hendricks explained that they didn’t want to repeat the first movie.
“We could’ve made M3GAN 1.5, but we went bigger. We wanted to make something new while keeping what people loved.”
Allison Williams, who stars and produces, is ready to continue the M3GAN saga.
