DC Studios’ co-head James Gunn has confirmed that the script for Wonder Woman is being written. Although it’s still in its developing stages, the film is expected to be released in 2027 or 2028.

According to The Wrap, Ana Nogueira has been hired to write the script. She also wrote the screenplay for the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. However, DC Studios hasn’t officially confirmed this news yet. Gunn, who just debuted Superman in theaters on July 8, responded to rumors about Wonder Woman as well. On Threads, the director said that although it’s a priority, it’s not being rushed. He added, “Nothing will be filmed until we’re confident the script is good.”

Gunn also shut down false news about the cast list. There was buzz going around about DC looking for someone with a TV background like Supergirl star Milly Alcock. Gunn denied it, saying, “Nope. I’d never choose a lead based on whether they did TV or film. It’s all about finding the right person.”
The next Wonder Woman movie is in the process of being created. Expect more updates over the next year or two, with a possible release sometime in 2028.
