A sequel to Sony’s movie Heart Eyes is in the works. However, nothing is really set in stone. Dread Central reports that director Josh Ruben is adding the finishing touches to the Heart Eyes 2 script. Supposedly, he’s drafting the script while working on a project, Wilderness Reform, for Paramount+. The news surrounding this hasn’t been confirmed or denied by producers. No details have been released about the plot or cast list.
In an interview last year, Ruben did explain what he’d do if a Heart Eyes franchise came into fruition:
“I’ll put it this way: You could replicate the structure of any great rom-com, from His Girl Friday to Defending Your Life, and you could drop Heart Eyes into the center of that story, and have him flash and slash about,” he stated.
Ruben also said he’d aim for the tone of films like Bridget Jones’ Diary or Love Actually while making the characters face a masked killer.

The Feature Presentation actually covered the Heart Eyes premiere at the IPIC Theater last year, which was held by DJ Suss One’s Dinner and a Movie and Sony. Star guests, including Mason Gooding and Sony employees, were in attendance, and needless to say, the event lived up to all its hype. To learn more, click here.

Directed by Josh Ruben, Heart Eyes is a cinematic blend of romance and gory horror. The movie centers on the “Heart Eyes Killer,” a masked murderer who’s known to attack couples every Valentine’s Day. Little do they know that they’ve chased a couple, that’s not actually a couple. The movie also stars Jordana Brewster, Olivia Holt, and Devon Sawa.
