The trailer for Netflix’s upcoming biopic, Shirley, sees Regina King playing the lead role. Moreover, King will star as Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman to be elected to the United States Congress. Chisholm also ran for president in 1972.
The synopsis states, “Shirley explores the story of the first Black congresswoman and political icon, Shirley Chisholm, and her run for presidency in the U.S. The movie gives viewers a look at her ground-breaking presidential campaign.”
