DC Studios’ Supergirl movie has a release date in theaters. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the action-packed film will debut on the big screens in June 2026.
“We see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl,” DC Studios CEO James Gunn stated about Supergirl in a press conference last year. “She’s much more hardcore; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.”
Supergirl stars Milly Alcock as the titular character and Superman’s cousin, Kara Zor-El. The movie draws admiration from Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic book Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Additionally, CW’s series with the same name has a part to play in the movie’s storyline. The script is written by Ana Nogueira. Craig Gillespie serves as Supergirl’s director. The movie will begin filming this fall.
