A fearless Texas Ranger, a master thief, and a web of corruption…
Peacock is turning up the heat on its upcoming slate with a bold new series adaptation of Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s 2024 crime novel, The Accomplice. Leading the charge is Taraji P. Henson, who will star as Nia Adams, a relentless Texas Ranger tasked with hunting down a master thief. Only to find herself entangled in a dangerous network of power, deception, and moral compromise.
Produced by Universal Content Productions in collaboration with Jackson’s G-Unit Films and Television and Henson’s TPH Entertainment, the series promises to be a high-stakes blend of crime, ambition, and ethical conflict. Henson, who also serves as an executive producer alongside Jackson, brings her trademark intensity and charisma to the role, delivering a protagonist who is both unstoppable and deeply human.
A Story of Crime, Consequences, and Choices
At the heart of The Accomplice is the pursuit of Desmond Bell, a master thief whose latest heist targets one of America’s wealthiest families. As Nia Adams closes in, she discovers a tangled web of corruption that forces her to confront a difficult choice: uphold the law at all costs, or protect the system she has dedicated her life to serving. The series promises the tension, moral complexity, and high-stakes drama that both fans of 50 Cent’s storytelling and Henson’s powerhouse performances have come to expect.
Power Moves Behind The Camera
This collaboration marks another exciting chapter for both Henson and Jackson. Henson, celebrated for her Emmy-nominated work on Empire and her Academy Award-nominated performance in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, recently signed a first-look deal with Fox Entertainment Studios and a two-picture deal with Netflix, further cementing her influence as a leading creative force in Hollywood.
For Jackson, The Accomplice expands his growing empire of character-driven crime narratives, following on the heels of his Power universe, including Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, and Power Book IV: Force. Jackson is also developing other projects, including Fightland for Starz, Hip Hop Cop for Hulu, and a Netflix docuseries on Sean “Diddy” Combs — showcasing his versatility and ambition as a storyteller.
Peacock’s Strategic Move Into Original Drama
The Accomplice underscores Peacock’s continued investment in original, character-focused dramas. By pairing two powerhouse creatives, whom are a master of crime storytelling and one of Hollywood’s most magnetic leading ladies, Peacock is signaling that the series will not only entertain but also resonate with viewers who crave intensity, intrigue, and layered, morally complex characters.
With a premise ripe for tension, a lead capable of commanding every scene, and 50 Cent’s signature world-building, The Accomplice is shaping up to be one of Peacock’s most anticipated original series.
