Over the weekend, entrepreneur T’yanna Wallace honored her father, The Notorious B.I.G., by hosting a private tasting event in Midtown Manhattan to preview dishes set to appear on the menu at Big Poppa’s Steakhouse. Hosting the event on the anniversary date of her father’s passing, Wallace proved that her new restaurant will bring heat to the food industry just like her father did in hip-hop. Wallace chose to turn the date of his passing into a celebration of his life and powerful legacy.

Christopher Wallace often spoke about wanting to open a restaurant of his own someday. And now, his daughter is turning that dream into a reality. The restaurant pays homage to her father, with its name taking inspiration from his nickname Big Poppa.

The menu blended bold flavors with hip-hop nostalgia, with several dishes inspired by the music and influence of The Notorious B.I.G. The appetizers included the Lil Ceasar Salad, “Sky’s the Limit” Tuna Tartare, Mango-Pineapple Jerk Wings, Ackee & Saltfish Spring Rolls, and the “Spread Love” Burrata Salad. Entrées like the Big Poppa Burger and Mo Money Mo Problems Lobster Tails take inspiration from two of his greatest hits. The menu also featured standout items such as the Brooklyn Strip Steak, Curry Chicken, Bed-Stuy Stew Chicken, Lamb Chops, and an Escovitch Snapper Filet. As for the sides, it included Platinum Mac & Cheese, Brussels Sprouts, GG’s Rice & Peas, Grilled Corn on the Cob, and Garlic Truffle Fries.

The private tasting brought together a carefully selected team to help bring the vision to life. Chef Harley led the kitchen and prepared the tasting menu, while celebrity event curator Alyi V of The Alyi V Experience helped design the evening’s experience. Publicist Chasity Cox of Chasity Cox Public Relations LLC handled media relations, and bartender Chyna crafted specialty cocktails for the guests.
Held at an elegant Midtown Manhattan venue near the future restaurant location, the evening brought out several notable guests. Attendees included CJ Wallace, Lil’ Kim, Lil’ Cease, members of Junior M.A.F.I.A., Kazeem Famuyide of 7 PM in Brooklyn, and Rory Farrell. Wallace’s mother and daughter were also present, proudly standing by her side during the celebration.

The event also allowed Wallace to gather feedback from close friends and family as she works on finalizing what will become the signature dishes of Big Poppas Steakhouse. For Wallace, the restaurant’s mission is simple: to honor her father not just through memories but through experiences people can share for years to come.
Overall, Big Poppa’s Steakhouse represents the continuation of a powerful legacy built on family, culture, and the lasting influence of one of hip-hop’s most iconic voices.
When it opens in Fall 2026, the restaurant aims to offer more than just upscale dining. It will also serve as a cultural space where food, music, and storytelling converge to celebrate the life and impact of The Notorious B.I.G.
