The word spread like poison last week when rumors of Andy Serkis being the chosen one to direct Venom 2. Sony and Andy himself have officially confirmed the news, Andy Serkis has been signed on to direct Venom 2.
The secret literally traveled through the telephone, when Tom Hardy leaked to instagram details of the upcoming Venom sequel. The instagram post stood online enough time for the Hardy followers to screenshot the tease and call it tea. Today, Andy Serkis himself posted the announcement on social media and Sony confirmed the news with Variety.
Serkis instagram post shows him holding a copy of Venom: Lethal Protector #6, the final installment of the 1993 miniseries with a caption that describes his excitement.

Their were over a couple of choices when it came to deciding who would take on the direction of this film. The list included Travis Knight who worked on the action film Bumblebee (2018) and Rupert Wyat-who teamed with Andy Serkis for the making of Rise Of The Planet Of Apes (2011).
Andy is essentially known for his apperances in front of the camera, especially his motion performance on Lord Of The Rings, but Andy has also contributed to projects behind the camera such as Breathe and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle.
