On Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, DJ Suss One of The Feature Presentation hosted an exclusive star-studded advanced screening of the highly anticipated movie Missing starring Nia Long as Grace alongside actor Ken Leung as Kevin, Tim Griffin as James and Ava Zaria Lee as Young June. Directed by Nicholas D. Johnson and Will Merrick, Missing is a one-of-a-kind thriller that kept moviegoers on the edge of their seats. Missing is a thrilling roller-coaster mystery that makes you wonder how well you know those closest to you. When Young June, played by Ava Zaria’s mother (Nia Long) disappears while on vacation in Colombia with her new boyfriend, June’s search for answers is derailed by international red tape. Stuck thousands of miles away in Los Angeles, June creatively uses all the latest technology to try and find her before it’s too late. But as she digs deeper, her digital sleuthing raises more questions than answers…and when June unravels secrets about her mom, she discovers that she never really knew her. Missing tells the story of new comerJamila C. Gray aka Bri, a talented 16-year-old rapper, who attempts to take the battle rap scene by storm in order to lift up her family and do right by the legacy of her father — a local hip hop legend whose career was cut short by gang violence. But when her first hit song goes viral for all the wrong reasons, she finds herself torn between the authenticity that got her this far and the false persona that the industry wants to impose upon her.
The first Dinner and a Movie of 2023 began with a private pre-movie mixer. Guests were escorted to the intimate restaurant located on the top floor of the movie theatre. Guests were met with various cocktails while mixing and mingling throughout the lounge. Many could be heard discussing their excitement in anticipation to see ” Missing”.
Celebrity guests such as Nicole Johnson, Multi-Emmy Award Winning Journalist and husband Sean Ringgold, award-winning music producer Amadeus, VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Chrissy Monroe and Ms. Moe Money, R&B singers Emanny, Chris Weaver and Tina Yao, Rap Artist Graph, and Dipset member Shiest Bubz along with comedians Mr. Commodore and Daniel Jean, international violinist Mapy, were also attendance and could be found mingling throughout the theater lounge while others joined DJ Suss One for photo ops on the red carpet.
After the one-hour cocktail mixer, guests were escorted to their personalized assigned seats. Once seated they were greeted by personalized name cards, and a customized dinner menu along with an array of sweet treats such as popcorn, soda, and candy.
DJ Suss one created another monumental moment by filling the theatre with lots of influential friends, socialites, and tastemakers who all were in attendance to support DJ Suss One’s Dinner and a Movie series. DJ Suss One ended the night by thanking his guests for attending and inviting each and everyone back to experience the next Dinner and a Movie.
