In the current state of the world, the 2020 Emmy awards is providing us with a small glimpse of normality that we were given prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 72nd Emmys will be conducted virtually from the Los Angeles Staples Center where Jimmy Kimmel will host the ceremony.
To accommodate the unique situation surrounding the award show, the Television Academy has provided cameras for all necessary participants in the show’s live proceedings in order to maintain current social distancing guidelines. Meaning, that the broadcast will consist of “138 stars from 114 locations across 10 countries” according the a promotional ad for the program. While the locations and individual’s attire will greatly vary, the award show will maintain a sense of order by having both Kimmel and a variety of presenters to award the winners with their prizes.
The special event is available across cable television platforms, ABC.com, and the ABC app.
