Lizzo is the bearer of good news for all plus size women this month. As always, Lizzo has continued to push the movement for the inclusion, and acceptance of full figured women in the industry. Now joining her list of vast accomplishments is her new reality competition series for Amazon.
The project is a competition series seeking full-figured models and dancers. The three-time Grammy winner is developing her own feel-good competition series with Amazon Studios to fill the major thick-girl-gap in the world of entertainment. According to an announcement on Friday, March 19, Lizzo is searching for “full-figured dancers and models who have for far too long been underrepresented and underappreciated” for the future reality TV hit. The ultimate goal of the show is to is to find people talented enough to accompany her on stage as part of her next crew.
“Where are all the big girls?” she demanded to know in her Instagram stories. “That’s what I wanna know. So, me and Amazon are gonna find out. I’m developing an unscripted show with Amazon to find my next crew of big girl dancers and models, so bring yourself and that ass.” The competition winner will become a part of Lizzo’s team and perform with the Hustlers star on tour. The official description of the as-yet-untitled series reads as follows: “A new unscripted series following global superstar Lizzo as she continues to search for dynamic, full-figured women to join her world and perform with her on stage. Only the most talented dancers and models will have what it takes to twerk it out on tour and stomp it out on the runway.”
Among the requirements for the application process at BigGrrrls.com are a current photograph (“No filters, hats, or sunglasses, please”); a description of your life’s motto; your favourite and least favourite supermodel; a video about why you belong in Lizzo’s world; and a break down of how your friends would describe your personality (“Give us the good, the bad, and the UGLY of it all!”).
