Time and time again, Ali de León captivates listeners with her fresh take on spanglish urban rap and pop. Subsequently, the “Tu” songstress centers her music around relatable topics like love and self-growth.
She adds that the source of her inspiration comes from “Heartbreak and people such as my grandfather who was a true bohemian at heart who played his guitar and sang without a chance to really pursue music as a career.”
In the span of her career, she’s gotten co-signs from Ghetto SPM, a Dominican producer who’s worked with artists like El Alfa and Farruko. She’s also gotten a seal of approval from Joe Veras, a Dominican bachata artist.
Her latest jam, “Se Te Nota,” explores the feelings she has for a man she’s head over heels for. The instrumental is akin to Latin pop. Additionally, Ali de León affirms that she’s the woman of his life. The feelings he has for her are powerful and apparent.
She sings, “Acercate/Vamos hablar del amor/Yo quiero darte lo que nadie te dio,” along with “Es que se te nota/Que te provoca/Cuando bailo chichi se te nota/Se te nota se te nota.”
About the song’s inspiration, Ali de León says it’s from Joe Veras’ bachata song titled “Se Te Nota,” which came out in 1996.
“It’s always been one of my favorite songs. One day I was listening to a beat on youtube, and in my mind, I kept hearing the bachata, so I decided to make my own version, and I reached out to Ghetto, and he was all for it. TMP Records LLC agreed to help me with the license since it is a bit of a remake, and I don’t want to get in trouble legally.”
Ali de León wants to inspire people, specifically women. She wants them to be comfortable in their own skin. To feel deeply and express what they feel without apologies but always with the greater purpose of healing and loving one another.
Her biggest accomplishment is making nonstop, quality music without any direction. Another feat of hers is recording “Se Te Nota” with Ghetto SPM as a homage to one of the greatest: Joe Veras and having his blessing on the record.
