Now filmmaker Ridley Scott is set to bring the iconic Blade Runner franchise to television screens with a live-action series in the works, and he has confirmed the script for the upcoming project is already complete.
Originally unveiled in 1982, Blade Runner is a sci-fi film set in the year 2019 about a retired LAPD police officer hired to hunt down humanoid robots that have begun wreaking havoc upon society. It was followed up with a sequel in 2017 with Blade Runner 2049 that only further built upon the iconic franchise’s success tremendously, making it a prime candidate for further exploration. Now Ridley Scott will be getting the chance to build upon the Blade Runner franchise with plans for a live-action television series currently in the works, with the filmmaker commenting that he has “already written the pilot.” Not much is known about the project yet except that it is expected to be a 10-part series that will likely follow up on the events of the 2017 sequel, however that is still unconfirmed. Scott is still shopping the project around, with new details set to emerge about the live action Blade Runner series in the coming weeks.
