Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, donated over 4,000 toys at a toy drive in Englewood, Chicago. Due to this overly generous act, Alderman Stephanie Coleman has named him the “modern-day Santa Claus.”
“I’m so proud that Kanye is, once again, responding to our request to help the children of Englewood and beyond. He is no stranger to our community. His presence has always been felt in our neighborhoods, and he loves visiting, but this Christmas, he has truly been our modern-day Santa Claus,” Coleman told ABC7.
The toy drive happened inside the gymnasium at Kennedy King College. Attendees were given food and were treated to games and prizes while receiving their toys.
Ye also donated 1000 meals to LA Mission in means of helping the state’s homelessness rate decrease. He used his social media platforms to raise awareness on the issue.
