Over the course of the past decade, we have seen a seismic shift in Hollywood that has resulted in the blurring of lines across many influential industries. The industries we have seen this occur in to the greatest degree, arguably, are music and fashion thanks to the efforts of select few individuals who have the power to influence the way either space operates. There is only one man who can essentially flip both on their heads however: the artist formerly known as Kanye West, now going by Ye after a legal name change, has been making strides in both music and fashion since he first emerged on the scene two decades ago, only becoming more confident in his abilities as more time passes and with every goal he achieves. Both a Grammy award winning recording artist and the owner of his very own clothing brand Yeezy, Ye has enjoyed a long and plentiful career with no end seemingly in sight, and now that career is set to be reflected upon in the upcoming Netflix documentary jeen-yuhs that will take a deeper look at the long path the esteemed artist took to get to this point.
Hailing from Southside Chicago in the early 2000’s, Ye quickly began to turn heads in hip-hop with his unique production and sense of style which both stood out dramatically against the backdrop that was hip-hop during that time. No matter how different he might have appeared on the surface though, his talents have become abundantly clear and only become more obvious with each and every critically acclaimed album he releases. Fresh off the release of his 2021 album Donda, Ye is now set to take over our screens as well with a new project that will explore the magic behind his artistry in a new Netflix documentary aptly titled jeen-yuhs. Set to be a three-part affair, jeen-yuhs kicks off during The College Dropout days with the official trailer from Netflix featuring Ye wearing one of his iconic polo shirts going back and forth with somebody in his entourage about whether or not he is a genius in true Kanye West fashion. It isn’t often we get a lot of perspective on the mind of an artist like Ye, so this is certainly poised to be something special. The trailer for jeen-yuhs can be seen below, and fans can either catch the first part of the documentary when it premieres in theaters on February 10th or when it hits Netflix on February 15th.
The past few years have been something akin to a rebirth for Ye. He found god once again and has reinvented himself as a devout Christian, even removing all profanity from his aforementioned album Donda, and it looks like his future is brighter than ever before. Eager fans and Netflix subscribers can look forward to the latest taste of Kanye and all his glory in the upcoming documentary jeen-yuhs in just a few short weeks.
