The Michael Jackson Musical on Broadway will jumpstart across the states next year. The crew apart of this musical will travel to 17 major cities over two years, starting in 2023. It begins in Chicago at the James M. Nederlander Theatre on July 15, 2023. There will also be a two-week engagement at the Blumenthal Performing Arts Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, from Sept. 26-Oct. 8, 2023.
Lia Vollack, the head producer, said in a statement:
“We are thrilled by the Broadway response to ‘MJ,’ We are already deep in preparations to bring this exhilarating show to Chicago and across the United States. Chicago is a premier theater and music destination, and we are excited to be able to begin this journey in one of the Nederlander Organization’s most beautiful venues.”
More details about the tour and the crew will be released later.
The musical focuses on a fictional MTV film crew that gets access to capture the BTS work of Jackson’s 1992 Dangerous tour. Jackson goes back in time to explain his career and approach. The musical has obtained the green light from the Michael Jackson estate. The playwright is in Lynn Nottage’s control. Christopher Wheeldon will serve as both the director and choreographer.
