At one point in the early 2000s, Yung Joc and T-Pain had the hottest records out that are still timeless ‘till this day. Yung Joc had “It’s Going Down” while the Painster curated “Chopped N’ Screwed” and the infamous Buy U A Drank.”
Given these points, Yung Joc took a walk down memory lane to speak about the creative process behind T-Pain’s “Buy U A Drank.”
During an interview with VladTV, Yung Joc unveiled that T-Pain gained inspiration from Lil Flip, who refused to shake the melodic artist’s hand.
The reasoning behind the diss stems from Lil Flip labeling the move as “some white boy sh*t.” After seeing T Pain sad over the situation, Young Joc offered to buy him a drink. And well, the rest is history.
According to the rapper, T-Pain said to him:
“How can I make a song called ‘Buy U A Drank’ and you probably the only n***a that bought me a drank?”
“Buy U A Drank” comes off T-Pain’s second LP, Epiphany. The song gained praise following its release back in 2007. Eventually, “Buy U A Drank” made its way to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.
