HBO is racking in on views following the premiere of House of Dragons. This new series is a pre-sequel to Games of Thrones. HotNewHipHop states that its first episode created a milestone for the television network, earning 9.986 million viewers worldwide. GOT’s very first episode in 2011 amassed over 2.2 million views.
Although this is an extraordinary feat for HBO, GOT earned 19.3M viewers for its finale in 2019. However, the stats do show that House of the Dragon also had “the largest series launch on HBO Max across the U.S., Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.”
“It was wonderful to see millions of Game of Thrones fans return with us to Westeros last night. House of the Dragon features an incredibly talented cast and crew who poured their heart and soul into the production, and we’re ecstatic with viewers’ positive response,” HBO and HBO Max’s Chief Content Officer said in a statement. “We look forward to sharing with audiences what else George, Ryan, and Miguel have in store for them this season.”

As of now, there’s no word of a second season. But don’t fret. There are still more episodes to debut from House of Dragons.
