More details have been unveiled to the public regarding the sequel to 2021’s Godzilla vs. Kong. Today, Legendary announced on the movie’s fan page that the predecessor’s name is Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. The film production company also dropped a trailer that highlights what’s to come.
In the clip, a titan sits on a throne surrounded by bones. As the camera pans out, fans will notice Godzilla and Kong’s skulls glowing in their signature colors.
According to the synopsis,
“This latest entry follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own.”
It also states that “the epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins, and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.”
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will debut in theaters on March 15, 2024.
